Relay Rules
Failure to comply with the relay rules may result in disqualification. Relay
rules are:
Participants are
expected to follow the established, marked course, which includes running
through some stretches (about a mile) of grass, cross country.
Solo team individuals
must ride solo but may have assistance in moving their canoe or kayak to
the start and in holding the bicycle. Boaters are not
allowed to have someone stage their boat at the water's edge in
advance .
Exchanges must be
completed within the exchange area and must be made hand to hand.
Exchanges outside the
exchange area or tossed wristbands will result in
disqualification. Promptly remove all equipment from the
exchange area when exchanges are completed.
After finishing the
running & biking legs, runners & bikers may not cool-down or
double back on the course. NOTE - BIKERS MAY NOT DRAFT EACH OTHER!
Bicyclists must
properly wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet with chinstrap fastened.
Canoeists/kayakers must
wear a US Coast Guard approved life vest. Bow and stern lines are
recommended.
All participants must
sign a waiver of liability; no one else may sign for an entrant.
Minors must provide waivers signed by parents or guardians. All
participants must sign or their team will not be able to participate!
Transportation and
security of equipment (water craft and bicycles) and relay participants
are the responsibility of participants.
Due to safety
concerns, we ask all participants and bystanders to keep the finish line
area open.
